An Introduction To Psychometric Tests

A psychometric test is a way to analyse and test a person’s inclinations and performance areas. These tests are typically used while recruiting to test employees’ work attitudes and more importantly, aptitude for the job profile in question.

This method has become a rather popular way of identifying the right contenders for a job. Corporations and large companies often use tests like this to filter through all the applicants and select a set of potential employees.

Recruitment companies also tend to use this method in order to make better placements.

The tests are broadly divided into questions that analyse a person’s ability, tests that identify a person’s interests, and tests that are designed to give an insight into their personality.

Tests usually try to gain an understanding of how a person relates to different situations and different kinds of people, and different people’s emotions, problems, personalities etc. They are also meant to analyse how the person tends to react to problems and pressure and how they might handle them.

Employers and recruitment companies, however, are not the only users of this form of testing. Career coaches and advisors often make use of this method to help clients understand their aptitudes, talents and interests.

This is considered to be a fairly accurate way of establishing a person's personality type, and discovering potential qualities and attributes in their personality.
